There are moments in life that seem small at the time but quietly shape the path ahead.
About five years ago, I made a post looking for someone who owned crowns and would be willing to model for a creative portrait session. I have always been drawn to crowns—not because of pageantry or royalty, but because of what they symbolize. To me, a crown represents strength, resilience, dignity, and the quiet power every woman carries, whether she realizes it or not.
That's when I met Cindi.
She answered my post, bringing not only her collection of crowns but also a lifetime of stories behind each one. What began as a single photography session quickly grew into a genuine friendship. As I photographed her, I realized I wasn't simply photographing beautiful crowns—I was photographing a woman who had earned every one of them through perseverance, faith, advocacy, and an unwavering determination to keep moving forward.
That experience reinforced something I had already believed deep in my heart: every woman deserves to feel empowered. It became one of the reasons I continue creating portraits of women showing thier empowerment—not to celebrate perfection, but to celebrate courage, survival, wisdom, and the unique journey each woman carries.
I am beginning the Empowered Women interview series and I knew Cindi had to be one of the first women featured.
Her story reaches far beyond pageantry. It is a story of overcoming devastating health challenges, living through profound loss, finding purpose in pain, and using her voice to advocate for others. Every crown she wears represents more than a title—it represents another chapter of resilience, faith, and hope.
As you read her interview, I hope you'll look beyond the sparkle of the crowns and see the remarkable woman beneath them. Her story is a reminder that true empowerment isn't something placed on our heads—it's something we build within ourselves, one challenge, one choice, and one act of courage at a time.
The Empowered Women series was born from that belief.
This series isn't about titles or accomplishments. It's about women who have faced life's greatest challenges and continue to rise. Women who have transformed pain into purpose, fear into courage, and obstacles into opportunities to inspire others. Some wear crowns. Some never have. Every one of them is extraordinary.
As both a photographer and storyteller, my goal is to celebrate women for who they are, not simply what they've achieved. I want these conversations to remind every reader that strength looks different for every woman, but it deserves to be seen.
I'm honored to begin this journey with someone who unknowingly helped inspire it.
Welcome to Empowered Women.
I hope these stories remind you that your own story matters, too.
The following post is my i nterview with my friend, a rolemodle and genuine empowered woman. Let's all applaude--Cindi.
